What if you had a SUPER-NATURAL POWER? How would you save the world, wreak havoc, or bring joy/humor to yourself or your community? Think about the storylines of your favorite comic book heroes, and the emblems they present. Your 2 or 3 color design for this silk screen project will present the super power you hold within.
CRITERIA: - Level 1 (2 colors) & Level 2/ADV (3 colors) -Fill the 5x5 space -Understand the various equipment and steps, indicated by the screen-printing techniques handout & quiz - Make 3 final prints of 3 different color combinations (total of 9 final prints) - Make a final print on T-Shirt |
EFFORT & INVOLVEMENT:
-Attentive to demonstrations, carefully completing each step (design, photo emulsion application, exposing, rinsing, registration, practice prints & final prints. -Efficient use of class time- pacing so that the project is not rushed -Work independently and collaboratively to complete the steps in a timely manner |
CREATIVITY & ORIGINALITY:
- Design is Eye-Popping - The graphic or text is easily recognizable/readable (not flipped/reversed) - Emblem/Logo design relates to the meaning of your super power (explained on the design page) - Unique (not a copy of an existing logo) design steps show idea development. - Changes were made to improve the original sketch. - Color choices are bold and work well together. |
Steps for finalizing your design:
LEVEL 1: TWO color design LEVEL 2/ADV: THREE color design
- CHOOSE A SYMMETRY: Mirror, Rotational, or Tilted Axis
- CHOOSE A CONTAINER: shield, circle, oval, diamond, triangle, etc.
- CHOOSE A TYPEFORM OR SYMBOL (Make it bold and clear)
- FILL THE SPACE 6x6
- Tip: Start drawing from the middle and make it touch the edges of the design box)
- SIMPLIFY IT TO POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SHAPES (NO THIN OUTLINES/FINE DETAILS)
- Optional: GIVE IT A 3-D OR A MOVING/EXPANDING EFFECT
- MAKE AS MANY SKETCHES AS YOU NEED TO MAKE IT FINAL (KEEP ALL YOUR ATTEMPTS)
